What can I say, my first movie review blog. Why am I starting with Zombie 5, you may ask? Well, this is a perfect example of how society has become obsessed with the notion of the series, and I believe it is my duty as a series connoisseur to address my own problems with this automatonic indulgence as well as finding solutions. Let us begin . . .
Any fan of Zombie films will know that there are two major cultural components to the genre: American and Italian. Let us begin with the American Zombie movie. Night of the Living Dead was a classic, is a classic, and will always be a classic in my heart; not only is it still creepy after all these years, the film makes quite the social commentary. Directed by George Romero, NOTLD would be followed by Dawn of the Dead some odd years later, another classic in the eyes of many. Day of the Dead was also interesting especially regarding the attempt to make zombies turn into becoming our own personal pets, and of course, Land of the Dead, which provided us with a post-apocalyptic view of our own demise, and Dennis Hopper is definitely the man in this one.
Now, let us turn to Italian Zombie movies. In Europe, Dawn of the Dead was renamed Zombie and was edited by none other than Dario Argento, one of the great gialli directors of Italian Cinema. Lucio Fulci, another great Italian director, made his own Zombie movie, which was called Zombie in North America and Zombi 2 (Zombie Flesh Eaters)in Europe, an illegitmate sequel to Argento's Zombie. Confused? I know I sure was, that was until I drew a schematic.
Now onto Zombi 3 (or Zombie Flesh Eaters 2), which was started by Lucio Fulci and finished by Bruno Mattei, a director whose work needs to truly be experienced to fully understand the epitomy of what garbage a film can project onto the viewer. Mattei has made very few ''watchable' films, including Hell of the Living Dead and The Other Hell which, I admit, are guilty pleasures. Zombi 3 consisted of badly filmed Rambo rip-offs and the zombies had cereal and jam for faces, pretty drab. If you pay close attention, one can find that people that have already died are killed again and again and some of them are not even zombies (I guess this is what happens when you have no budget!).

you are amazing. I can't even remember which movie I went to see on the weekend. I can't believe the amount of detail (and insight!!) you have on each of these. How can you tell them apart in your head???
I love to filter through ten horrible movies to get one that I will remember for the rest of my life.
